How do I build territories in MedScout?

Written by Selina Bush

In this article:

Creating territories in MedScout is fast and easy! You can use this functionality to create assigned territories for your reps or draft territories you plan on using for experimentation or other exploration in territory analytics.

Create a Territory

1. Enter territory creation mode

To enter territory creation mode, select "Add a territory" from the territory dropdown found on the Discover page

2. Configure your territory

1. Select your drawing mode! You're not locked into a single mode so feel free to mix and match to meet your needs

  • State - Create your territory by selecting states on the map

  • County - Create your territory by selecting counties on the map

  • Zip - Create your territory by selecting zip codes on the map

  • Draw - Create your territory by using a draw feature to create a polygon with your mouse

Once you select your drawing mode, make your way to the map on the right side of the screen. From there you can hover over your geography of choice and select them by clicking. You can also de-select a selection by clicking on it again.

2. Name your territory by typing a name into the Territory Name text box

3. Assign the territory. Assigning a territory to someone in your team will ensure that territory is visible to them in their territory list. You will always be able to view territories you create

4. Decide if this territory is "Assigned". Checking the box will make this territory the assigned reps "official" territory. Think of this like the territory the rep is compensated on and can only be edited by management.

5. Save the territory! Click the "Add Territory" button at the bottom of the territory configuration to save it.

Territory Creation Analytics

When building your territory, sometimes it is useful to understand the makeup of that territory for procedures that you care about.

To view volume metrics for a given draft territory simply click the "Show Territory Analytics" button in the territory configuration section as shown below:

To learn more about the graphs and data show in territory analytics, head over the "Getting started with Territory Analytics"
